New Line / Warner Bros have in mind to do a remake of Howard Zieff directed comedy Private Benjamin in 1980, for which they hired the actress starring Anna Faris (“Scary Movie”). The original film, starring Goldie Hawn, recounted the adventures of a woman whose husband dies during the wedding night. Faced with this disaster she decides to enlist in the military. What at first seems a very bad idea ends up not being so much her superior tries to seduce her. Judy is then transferred to NATO headquarters in Europe and meets the Frenchman Henri, with whom she ends up happening again by the altar.
The film received three nominations at the time the Oscars: Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress for the said Hawn and Best Supporting Actress for Eileen Brennan. This new release will be written by Amy Talkington, who set the story in modern times with some current war as a new backdrop for his story. Mark Gordon will serve as one of its producers.
